Read an open-source project transition carefully

An open-source transition raises questions about governance, releases and maintenance. The existence of source code is useful, but it does not by itself describe who reviews changes or supports a particular version.

When evaluating a dependency, record its license, release process and the interfaces your application needs. Separate a historical announcement from the current state of the software you actually plan to use.

Keep a small compatibility test for the features your game relies on. A reproducible build and a documented version help when a project’s ownership or packaging changes. Record the project version alongside each compatibility result.
