Game development

Choose a web game platform by testing the game

Platform discussions become useful when they focus on a particular game. A puzzle with mostly static graphics and an action game with many moving sprites put different pressure on drawing, audio and input.

List the features the game cannot compromise on, then build a small test for each. Measure startup time, rendering stability, interaction delay and save behavior on the actual target devices. Include accessibility and the surrounding page in the decision.

Do not infer whole-platform performance from one benchmark. Evaluate the implementation you can maintain and the delivery environment players will use. Keep results reproducible so a tool change can be assessed against the same workload.

An acceptance matrix

Use rows for target devices and columns for startup, frame time, audio, touch input and persistence. Record pass conditions in advance. A platform choice becomes easier when a failed requirement is explicit.
