Read an arcade history timeline carefully
An arcade timeline is a sequence of claims about design, release and public play. These are different milestones, and a useful entry tells the reader which one its date describes.
Compare contemporary records with later recollections. Preserve uncertainty when two accounts refer to different stages of the same machine’s development. A compact chronology should not flatten those distinctions.
Use a timeline to ask a focused design question, such as how steering controls or viewpoint changed. Write one observed example beside each comparison instead of inferring a whole genre’s history from a single title.
