Read retro gaming product demonstrations carefully
A trade-show demonstration is designed to communicate an idea quickly. It can show the feel of a device, but it may not establish every feature, supported title or long-term performance characteristic.
When looking at retro gaming products, distinguish what is visible in a demonstration from specifications and claims. Ask about controls, display latency, software compatibility and the conditions under which the demonstration ran.
Make a short checklist before comparing devices. Record a tested example for each conclusion and leave unanswered questions open. Use a CES 2020 demonstration as a focused case study and compare the visible result with the claims made around it.
